La Galerie bed and breakfast is situated just outside the village of Catus, near Cahors and the vineyards of the Lot Valley, south-west France. Set in the peaceful Lot countryside with large swimming pool and boulodrome. The stylish bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms and comfortable sitting areas and wifi Internet access, in a courtyard setting overlooking flower gardens, with free parking. Our breakfast includes home baked bread and croissants and homemade jams with fruit from our garden. La Galerie is 1km from the village of Catus and close to the Lac Vert with beach, pedalos, canoes and fishing, tennis courts and a seasonal restaurant and lakeside café/bar. There are many very good restaurants in the area serving the specialities of the region. Other activities here and nearby include walking, riding and mountain biking. Catus has good local amenities, including a tourist office and restaurant and a popular Tuesday morning market. Rocamadour, the most popular site in the Lot, is 45km north, with its ramparts and houses clinging to a rock face above the Alzou gorge. Nearby, many grottos and caves can be found in the Causse du Quercy, displaying their prehistoric paintings and engravings . Cahors, the capital of the Lot, is situated on the river Lot 15km away, with its good selection of shops, cafés, bars, restaurants, museums, galleries and historic architecture. The beautiful 14th century Pont Valentré, the only fortified bridge with three towers, in the world, is the symbol of Cahors. The Wednesday and Saturday morning markets are stocked with local produce. Cahors is also known for its deep ruby red wines and the vineyard trail can be followed west of Cahors along the Lot valley to the beautiful medieval town of Puy l'Eveque. Saint Cirq Lapopie sits high above the Lot valley to the east of Cahors with a maze of lanes running between the attractive stone and half-timbered buildings. The beautiful town of Sarlat is in close by Dordogne.
